snowden movie highlight data leaksThe news was once abuzz about the actions of the famous Edward Snowden, once claimed as being responsible for leaking NSA data and causing a major uproar in the national security community. Since Snowden's breakout of revealing details and information on the NSA, the media temporarily shuttered their coverage Snowden but have now reprised their efforts as a new movie trailer for a film about the famous NSA leaker has been released.

The new movie, aptly named "Snowden," takes place before and during the time that Snowden had with the NSA. The events are claimed to be chronicles of his life and incidents that lead to him releasing secretive data on the NSA and all of the controversy surrounding the massive data leak. The movie trailer, posted below, contains bits of information that demonstrate Snowden's involvement with the NSA and how he was able to get the data from headquarters.

While many critics of the Snowden movie will have strong opinions on the validity of how the film portrays such a sensitive subject, we wait to find out if the NSA will release any statements. Coincidently, Snowden himself has come out and Tweeted a link to the video on Twitter and giving his stamp of approval through two thumbs up. Additionally, he wrote in a tweet saying, "For two minutes and thirty nine seconds, everybody at NSA just stopped working."

The potential glorification of Edward Snowden in the new film about the NSA whistleblower may come off the heels of the acclaimed actors involved in the movie. Snowden, the movie, casts many popular actors, including Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Edward Snowden, Nicolas Cage, Glenn Greenwald, Tom Wilkinson, Timothy Olyphant and Lindsay Mills as Snowden's girlfriend.

While the movie is said to be based on "true events," there may be an opposition that downplays many events that take place in the film or highlight them due to verifying their occurrence from certain individuals. Either way, the movie will be a stark reminder of how the security of sensitive data is such a valuable prospect in today's technological age. Furthermore, the film could potentially draw a contrast to how we conduct our own lives over the Internet in our ability to safeguard our data in preventing malware threats and cybercrook infiltrations. Regardless, Snowden the movie looks like a must-see for everyone no matter what side of aisle you reside on the protection or release of secretive data.
