Infected Ransomware
The Aurora Ransomware is a file-locker family that can be decrypted for free, and this is good news for victims of the Infected Ransomware undoubtedly, a file-encryption Trojan that was spotted in the last days of July. This file-locker is based on the Aurora Ransomware project, and it is expected that the free decryption tool will be updated to work with this particular malware strain.
Infected Ransomware's Damage can be Undone for Free
If the Infected Ransomware ends up on your computer, you will soon notice that many of your important files (documents, songs, pictures, archives, etc.) will have the '.infected' extension added to the end of their original names. In addition to this, you will be unable to access their contents – this is because of the file-encryption routine that the Infected Ransomware carries out. The last change that the ransomware applies is to drop three ransom note to the infected computer - @@_FILES_ARE_ENCRYPTED_@@.txt, @@_HOW_TO_RETURN_DATA_@@.txt, and @@_RECOVERY_INSTRUCTIONS_@@.txt.
According to the message the attackers provide, victims will have to pay a ransom fee in exchange for a decryption tool – they provide the email backup@rape.lol for contact and further details. Thankfully, you should not even consider this thanks to the availability of a free decryptor. You should use an anti-virus tool to uninstall the threatening program, and then use the Aurora Decryptor to get your files back.
