ScreenshotAntivirus 2009, also known as Antivirus2009, is a rogue anti-spyware program that uses false spyware results to lure you to purchase its full version. Antivirus2009 is an updated version of Antivirus 2008. Other Antivirus 2009 aliases that have recently appeared on the Web are: XP Antivirus 2008, Vista Antivirus 2008, Ultimate Antivirus 2008 and System Antivirus 2008.

Antivirus 2009 is usually promoted via a ZLOB/MediaAccess Codec installer found on adult websites. Zlob has been the trojan of choice to infect users with pop ups disguised as system notifications that lead to websites with rogue anti-spyware programs. You can also install Antivirus 2009 manually on the rogue website antivirus-scanner.com. Antivirus 2009 may use its system scanner to display false positives which work as an incentive to make unsuspecting users purchase Antivirus 2009's commercial version.

Do not click on any link provided by Antivirus 2009. Once you click on the link provided, you'll be redirected to Antivirus 2009's website (antivirus2009.com) to download and purchase Antivirus 2009's rogue anti-spyware program. Antivirus 2009 has the ability to recreate itself after reboot and its "System scan" messages may continue to pop up on your task manager. It is advised to run a scan with a reliable anti-spyware program to check for the presence of Antivirus 2009 on your computer.

Purchased a few days ago. Found this page while doing websearch for contact info. Ran Spyhunter\'s free antivirus2009 Scanner and purchased removal tool for$29.99. Seems to have done the job alright. Contacted my credit card co. egarding charges to my credit card. They are sending me a billing error form for disputing charges which I must complete, sign, and return with all relevant info. Not sure how much good it will do but it\'s worth a try. Kind of a costly education on internet security but a lesson I doubt I will ever forget.

  • igotsuckered says:

I got suckered. I downloaded \"free\" avg updates several weeks ago. There was a free-trial period on the web antivirus software. It lapsed saying that If I wanted the feature, I could pay for it., I have spyzooka, so I did not think it was going to be a problem.
Well I( paid for it. My spyzooka did not wncounter any viruses. I removed the antivirus 09 from the computer, but it was still on my toolbar right next to avg icon. Pop-ups kept coming up saying I had a serious computer problem. Trojans, Adware, and other pop-ups kept telling me to fix problem directing me to a purchase page. I purchased it. The popups stopped, and it mysteriously disappearred from my toolbar. I sent antivirus 09 2 emails. There is no contact number. I am contacting my bank to refuse payment.

I stayed home on a friday night pulling my hair out cause of these assholes. I am pissed, but spyzooka came through once again. Avg free 8.0 is also scanning this computer.

Is there any way we can all band together to prosecute the distributors of Antivirus 2009 and convict them of fraud and internet crimes and put them in prison? I think this should be a felony and the perpetrators should serve real time for this type of crime.

Antivirus 2009 are committing criminal and civil offences. If prosecuted they could not win. They have huge amounts of money from their ill gotten gains and need a court to clean them out and jail them for a very long time. Personally I would like to break their arms for their repugnant acts.

Hello i am ten years old and i accidentaly downloaded antivirus 2009 but now i have a soloution! after searching for months and months i find a soloution! if you have windows vista like me follow these directions if u don't atleast try. Just so you know there is no downloading so you don't have to waste money and it is not complicated at all! Step 1. to delete a file right click your mouse and go down to see a file that says "remove from this list" or "delete". Press it with mouse. Step 2. Go to recycling bin and see if the file you deleted is there. delete it. If you see anything that you want to delete follow my directions from Step 1. I just did this and it worked with me so if any furthomore questions please e-mail me. Or comment me. Thank you so much!!!

  • muntle says:

I can appreciate how frustrating it is to get this awful software, but it is almost as bad trying to fight-off whatever it is that is trying to give it to me! I have been surfing around for hours trying to find details for how to get rid of that, to no avail. I have not downloaded AV2009, I have none of the files in the file list on my PC (thank goodness!), but I still keep getting an ad hoc rogue ie session starting that then morphs into the dialogue box that tries to tempt me into doing so. I have killed it each time using Task manager, and it takes-out any other ie sessions I am running as well, which suggests that it has plugged itself into ie somehow. I have deleted every cookie it has given to me, I have blocked every site it has referenced (eg antivir-64.com, filescheck-list303.com, etc, etc) and still it comes back. What is bothering me is that it may pop-up when I am typing, and if I don't notice it, I will download by accident (ie keystroke combination). So just to re-iterate, I haven't got it, but I want to stop the pop-ups that are trying to sell it. Any ideas anyone??

to RUN ur Internet again just delete those unnecessary files(the one that blocks ur IEs caused by spywares) into your system32 folder. You can see the file names of those files when you open msconfig in the run button.it is in the start up category. you can effectively delete it when ur in safe mode.

  • Jan says:

Hope this helps -- AV2009 got through my firewall and antivirus protection -- maddening and nasty. Finally, I found how to remove it. The solution in MY computer was unlike the solutions posted above -- the authors apparently vary the infection. So posting cure details gives them info of how NOT to infect. As a general process, my antivirus and firewall gives filenames of incoming "threats" and strangely allows them to become resident. (Must fix) Finding the location of seven different infectious files in C:\WINDOWS took a lot of work. They ALL were deleted at one time, (I believe they can rewrite themselves) the recycle bin was immediately emptied and the space with the deleted files on the harddrive was scrubbed with common drive-erase software. So far so good.

Thank You, SpyHunter, you have proved yourselves honest. In todays world that is priceless.

  • Lee says:

Thank you SpyHunter, you have my gratitude and respect.

  • Ann Varnadoe says:

I, too, thought Antivirus 2009 was legit so I bought it and used my credit card to pay. Unfortunately, this so-called antivirus is a tracking cookie. The $51.45 charge for this program came DIRECTLY FROM MY CHECKING ACCOUNT. My bank is investigating this as a fraudulent charge and if possible, I will prosecute. I bought Norton 360 to make sure that my computer is protected. Since this is a "cookie", I would suggest that you delete any and all cookies on your computer. I blocked my debit card and changed my user ID and pw on everything. Type "chrpay.com/meyrocorp" on your search bar. Hope you get the "pandora" site. If you do, look at it. You will be suprised to see all the spyware advertised.

Good luck to all of you that ,like me, "got taken".

i want to remove all the viruse from my system

  • cg says:

hey!! about the restoring the co back to the date where it is not infected, doi have to restore file by file?!?

  • Ken says:

I have successfully removed this serveral times. Some of the things that I have been reading here ,I haven't found to work. but this will work everytime. I use malwarebytes antimalware, manual update and run then online virus scan with bitdefender online scan to verify that everything is gone. However the virus has changed recently and you cannot open antimalware, antispyware programs, and it disables chkdsk and the time sync feature in windows if this is the case, you will also need drweb curit. You may need to download these files from an uninfected computer to a flash drive and transfer to the infected computer. All of these programs are free.Total removal time:20-40 min.

Thanx a bunch! This website saved me! That damn so called Antivirus 2009 drove me insane. I kept popping up like mad asking me to purchase. I almost did. Thank goodness I didn't.

I pity those who did though. Those insane people who did this AV2009 thing should be shot, cut into tiny pieces & fed to sharks. I don't know how they can sleep at night doing this to other people.

After hours of scratching my head, I managed to remove it (I really hope it's for good). I tried Step 2 (using Task Manager) to end the process & it worked! But when I restart, that damn thing popped up again.

So I did Step 2 again & this time, went to Search immediately after to delete the Antivirus 2009 folder & walla! AV2009 no more.

I hope it works for others too.

  • Denise says:

I didn\'t even have to purchase this thing, it automatically downloaded itself into my computer, and now it needs my e-mail address. I am not going to do it, but I would like to shoot these fools that did this! It has taken over my system, and I can\'t do anything! I don\'t know what to do. Please help. I have windows xp professional.

WHENEVER I AM IN CHAT THE PROGRAM TRYING TO SELL ME ANTIVIRUS 2009 KEEPS POPPING UP AND KNOCKING ME OOUT OF THE CHATROOM.. HOW DO I STOP THIS ANNOYING OCCURANCE?????

  • Sheldon says:

FYI, I tried the on-line technical service provided by MaCAfee for $59.95 and they sent me an antivirus program. The program failed to get rid of Antivirus 2009. The tech on the chat line told me that I could use the $59.95 already paid as a credit toward purchasing platinum service if I wanted further assistance.

    Hello,
AntiVirus 2009 showed up in my computer last night. My boyfriend just kept trying to kill it, and then got the impression that it was eating files. After hours of trying to delete cookies and scan for it we gave up. This morning I woke up and searched online and found out what I had suspected, that it was some evil adware monster, and read how to get rid of it and i deleted it. Now i have discovered that it deleted hundreds and hundreds of irreplacable precious photos. Nearly all of my pictures are gone and i can't retrieve them. I tried to restore my computer to an earlier time and that didn't work as well. Any ideas would really be appreciated, these are some of my most precious posessions. Also, do you know of anyone who is pursuing this legally? I would be interested in finding out how I can help send these filthy people to jail. I didn't even purchase anything from them and it wiped all of my photos within hours. Please help me!

This Antivirus 2009 showed up while searching for NANDA. Luckily, as my sister had encountered this pest last year (named Anitvirus 2008), I didn't accept the installation as I knew what would happen next...

  • Darnell Williams says:

Thanks so much! I was going on a game website and I thought that it infected my comp when the antivirus2009 came up. So I downloaded it. I figured out when I restarted my comp it was rouge. Thank you for helping me get that program...virus off my computer. My dad might not kill me.! Hey Sabrina you would have to do it to your businesses network. Remember it can infect other comps on the same network.

  • Drew says:

Been working on a friend's desktop (XP) to remove AV2009. So far no dice - tried every trick in the book. This virus has disabled system restore, it prevents any malware programs from running...this thing is a pain in the rear! I even disconnected the machine from the internet, loaded anti malware on a flash drive, rebooted the machine in safe mode and it STILL prevented me from running the malware killer. Geez...I'm out of options, short of just blowing up the whole thing.

  • sharon nickel says:

Today I have been getting the crap on my computer about how I need to download the antivirus 2009. This is the second time my computer has been infected with thing in the last six months. The first time I have to take it to a computer shop to get it off there. This time I am going to try the download on this site to get rid of it. Even while I'm typing this it keeps popping saying my computer is in danger and infected with serious virusus and spyware, YA theirs! It won't let me down load any other virus protection programs. I knew better than to by their advertisement. I will let you know how this all turns out.

I've had this vile crap Antivirus2009 for a few days now. Like everybody else, no matter how many times I attempt to kill it, it comes back every time after I reboot my computer. It's driving me maddddddddd. I think I'm going to try to restore my computer to a date before my computer got infected. However, I am concerned that although I may have restored to a previous date, but how do I know it still doesn't secretly live inside my computer?

  • Per says:

Hi guys! - Well if you have deleted Av2009 and this bar comes up anytime you use internet explorer? The bar comes up at the top and within a matter of seconds (does not matter wich page you are on) you are linked to a Antivirus2009 purchace-site!

How do I get rid of that?

  • Rocko says:

I aquired this over the weekend. It got to the point where I couldn't function in my web browser and when I could function, it blocked any site that serched on regarding instructions on how to remove it. Pretty smart. These people need to be prosecuted!
I ended up downloading AVGFREE on to my zip drive. Once installed, it still did not remove the virus. As a last ditch effort, I used my recovery disk to bring it back to original specs. Lost my dcuments, but rid the lap top of the virus. I was ok with losing my documents but I know a lot of people are not good with that. I'm currently using SPYWARE Doctor. It's not free. Use the above info or spywarehunter. Good luck!

  • JTidy says:

  • Joseph says:

I have now removed this from many many PCs, by slaving the drive and using my personal favorite of Norton 360, I advise you all not to just run a anti malware, please run an anti virus as well. Every single machine that I c;eaned also had keyloggers now if this was present before or after I cant tell you, but it is really something you want to look out for.

  • Damon Malcom says:

I have had problems with this program before and manage to remove it manually. However this time around the updated program seems to have blocked me from many apps on my computer. I cannot run any of the automatic removal software, open add/remove programs or run redigt to remove key componets. I am running out of ideas on how to delete the program from my system any helpful comments or tips would be much appriciated. It also had the internet locked but i manage to find the files that caused this on my own.

Anyone with help can contact me at dmalcom@live.com

Soo what happens when you are unable to use i.e. firefox or chrome? I am unable to go to any website accept for this stupid anti spyware website. Does this mean I'll have to reformat my PC? Or is there another way without having to go buy costly anti virus programs? I'm a little hesitant to copy files from my PC incase the virus follows.
